Students search all their words and point to the correct word. These questions are so important because it opens the door to what I call my own "fireside chat" into history, geography, life etc...Baseball is my favorite sport and historically it played a valuable role in our nations morale during tough times (and can be tied into current events too) - It spurred the first and only all girl baseball league and how President Roosevelt's "Green Light Letter" inspired a nation. I take the time and spend 20 minutes or so on this game because of how valuable the conversations can be...here are a few links for you to consider discussing with your child. https://www.nationalww2museum.org/war/wwii-polls/roper-polls-major-league-baseball-world-war-ii and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n9EJBSVx0MU)
4. Blue Practice Book page: 107/108 (Tear out) (107, We would have "echoed" the words in word bank box out loud - I say the word first while pointing at word, the students repeat. The sentences on this page have words the students will not be familiar with, so we would have done this worksheet together as a group and then checked the answers with our correcting pen. 108, students should be able to complete on their own, as this is a review of past high frequency words from two weeks ago during Author's Week. All words on this page should be familiar to your child).
5. Math workbook page: 154/155 (Don't tear out) (at this point in instruction, I would go over again when adding/subtracting 10 to any number, the ones place value will never change. 50+10= 60 the ones place value remained 0, only the tens place changed.) If your child is having difficulties, a dry erase board is always great to use or the video below. The lesson is progressing and both the tens and ones place value is now changing. Students can always draw the line between the tens and ones number and write a "t" over the tens, and a "o" over the ones. I'm sure you have seen this drawn on the papers in the past. )
Video OPTIONAL: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zau4jtSA_kY
6. Math packet pages: 215/216 (you may notice the packet pages are slightly different then instructional workbook pages, hence why we did these in class everyday and they rarely come home. The I-ready program is designed to challenge children on their critical thinking skills as well as enhance math skills. This can be very challenging for 1st grade, so Mrs. Buck and I monitor the students in class and assist with this task. For homework, we send home items that enhance/reinforce their abilities.)

4. Blue Practice Book page: 105, 106 (I would have read the three underlined words at the top and point out how three different letter teams have the same sound, but are all spelled different, at the bottom for #9 and #10, I would write on the board fruit so they see and hear what vowel sound they are looking for in each choice).
5. Math workbook page: 153 (at this point in instruction, I would begin to stress when adding/subtracting 10 to any number, the ones place value will never change. 50+10= 60 the one place value remained 0 only the tens place changed.)
